The 2020 DMD Conference seeks original papers that demonstrate new technologies and applications in the field of medical device design. Submissions from academic and industry researchers, clinicians and practitioners are encouraged. Papers should present an unbiased description of an experiment, product or business method related to medical devices. Repeated references to branded products or trade names, or excessive use of corporate logos or trademarks in illustrations is discouraged. Submissions are one to six pages in length.

Authors of accepted papers will present their paper in the conference scientific poster session.

Some papers may be selected to be presented in an podium session, and some papers, describing medical device designs with a potential for commercialization, will be invited for presenting in the Three-in-Five Competition.

All accepted papers will be published in the Proceedings of the Design of Medical Devices Conference, which will be available in electronic and print form through ASME Press. Papers will also be indexed in the ASME Digital Collection. Conference registration and presentation of the paper are required for publication of the paper.

Authors of the highest-quality accepted papers will be invited to submit a longer version of their work for publication in the ASME Journal of Medical Devices. These expanded papers will undergo an expedited JMED review process, handled by the editors.

We invite you to join us at DMD2020. The conference will be accepting submissions to the following technical tracks:

  • TRK 1: Cardiovascular
  • TRK 2: Neuroengineering
  • TRK 3: Orthopedics & Rehabilitation
  • TRK 4: MEMS & Nano
  • TRK 5: Sensors
  • TRK 6: Surgical Tools
  • TRK 7: Computer Modeling & Simulation
  • TRK 8: Human Factors
  • TRK 9: Wearables
  • TRK 10: Special Devices
